At MIST, UK vape brand and shop, we understand that it takes something rather special for a vape brand to have a lot of staying power. With that in mind, we’re delighted that we were able to get our hands on several Voopoo kits, put them to the test, and see for ourselves what makes Voopoo vapes special.
Here’s our review of the best Voopoo vape kits in 2023.
Score: 10/10
It seems Voopoo’s versatility knows no bounds, as while the DRAG H40 Pod Kit is ostensibly a portable sub-ohm kit, it’s capable of robust all-around use.
Upon opening up the DRAG H40, I was surprised by how small it was, fitting very snugly in the palm and being barely larger than a cylindrical cigarette lighter.
I initially figured the DRAG H40 was going to run into issues of balancing battery with power output, but Voopoo have hit a tight balance of combining a 1500mAh battery with a maximum output of 40W.
And, yes, it is not the most powerful or long-lasting vape kit but rather a DRAG of all trades! It can provide unrivalled portability with impressive cloud potential, plus a battery that’ll go the daily distance for all but the most voracious vapers.
The PnP Pod II is pleasantly simple to use, with side-hatch refilling and easy installation of the PnP Coils with a simple push-to-fit method.
The pod can be turned in place to adjust the ample airflow and can also fit the PnP-TR1 1.2ohm coils, perfect if you’d prefer an MTL vape for the day.
With simple use and all-around functionality, the Voopoo DRAG H40 Pod Kit is my favourite Voopoo kit from their current stable.
Score: 7/10
While many Voopoo kits are rather flashy, they’re aware that many vapers are switching away from smoking not just for their health but also for financial reasons.
Vaping consistently works out cheaper than smoking, and with devices such as the Doric Q Pod Kit, Voopoo hope to also brush the initial kit cost off the table.
I was skeptical of the Doric Q, a small acrylic pod vape that costs around as much as a disposable. But then I saw the ITO Cartridge in the pack and realised this would be fun.
The Doric Q is as stripped-back as you’d expect a budget vape to be; there are no buttons, no displays, readouts, or airflow adjustment sliders. The kit fires up exclusively from draw activation and does not come with a charging cable (though everyone has a drawer full of Type-C cables these days.)
Yet the Doric Q delivers satisfying hits from the excellent 1.0ohm ITO Cartridge included in the box. The kit is also compatible with the ITO Pods, which feature changeable coils for a less streamlined but more affordable means of vape maintenance.
The Voopoo Doric Q Pod Kit isn’t going to blow away seasoned vapers, but if the only thing keeping you from making the switch from smoking is the cost of entry, then the Doric Q may be the perfect vape kit for you.
Score: 8/10
Along with their DRAG units, the Argus range of pod vapes has been transformative for Voopoo and has brought a whole new audience of MTL vapers into their flock.
The Argus G Pod Kit functions in a way that any fan of the original Argus Pod Kit will find familiar, but now with improved user-friendliness and easier power adjustment between 5W - 25W.
I was pleased to see that Voopoo has continued to utilise Argus Pods, which feature pre-installed 1.2ohm and 0.7ohm coils and a unique 4-inlet airflow system for maximum flavour carrying.
While both pods are intended for MTL vaping, I found the 0.7ohm coil perfect for some moderate RDL nic-salt inhales. If this is your preferred inhale method, it’s further assisted by the neat little airflow slider on the side of the device, allowing you to balance flavour intensity with cloud potential.
A new OLED display screen has been added to help you track power settings, battery charge and coil health, though the font is small and may cause you to squint.
Despite this quibble, I quite like the smaller screen as it’s unobtrusive and won’t drain the 1000mAh battery in a significant way. The battery is large enough for casual vapers to get a few days of vaping out of it, though session and chain vapers may require a nightly recharge.
The Voopoo Argus G Pod Kit is an excellent iteration of the Argus line and a comfortable vape device if you’re seeking a daily, go-to MTL pod kit.
Score: 9/10
At MIST, we’ve noticed a recent rise in the popularity of kits that suit the vaper on the go. Voopoo believes that if you’re looking for a disposable-sized vape kit to take out and about with you, it’s better - and cheaper - to try one of their micro-vapes like the Argus P1 Pod Kit.
It's the most pocket-friendly refillable kit I've ever encountered, similar to the classic Argus Pod Kit but boasting a unique flat-square design. I found it was even able to slip neatly into that little spare pocket you have on the right side of your jeans!
An 800mAh battery is slightly smaller than in the Argus G mentioned above, but you won’t find it inadequate, considering that the P1 only fires up to a maximum of 20W. Wattage is automatically selected by the onboard GENE. AI 1.2 Chip, which I’m pleased to say took the busywork out of my hands.
Once again, we see a return of the Argus Pods and their notably flavoursome air pathways. A new feature is the lanyard connection ring on the top of the P1, which a handy lanyard cable helpfully included with the kit. This makes the Argus P1 easy to always have immediately within your reach, whether travelling or moving about at work.
While it may not be supremely powerful or customisable, the Argus P1 Pod Kit is the perfect pocket-sized pod vape for travel puffing.
Score: 10/10
And here we are, back with one of the kits that built Voopoo's initial reputation for serious sub-ohm satisfaction. The Voopoo DRAG 4 Kit is a dual-battery setup that kicks out some of the most considerable clouds in the game with a handful of thoughtful touches to the design for improved comfort.
The battery bay door slides off nice and smooth, though it always stays in place when left alone, thanks to the strong magnetic connection. The bays feature a battery removal ribbon, a minor touch that makes or breaks a sub-ohm mod for me personally.
Despite having a colossal build size, the DRAG 4 has a pleather panel on the battery door and gently rounded edges that ensure it’s comfortable in your hand, even with its remarkable size.
The DRAG 4 can be taken as high as 177W in RBA mode, though Smart mode is present to assign you the best wattage for your chosen coil automatically.
The charge-saving Eco mode and RDA-friendly TC modes are present and accounted for, along with a physical lock switch you can slide to turn off the fire and navigation buttons instantly.
The Uforce-L Tank that comes with the kit is worth the price of admission alone, in my opinion. It is one of the best sub-ohm tanks I’ve ever used. Not only does it have the airflow at the top to prevent leaks, but it also provides three inlets at once, allowing you to generate DIY-coil levels of cloud production.
The intricate design also ensures that even when taking in huge lungfuls, the Uforce-L Tank is remarkably quiet, lacking that characteristic “hiss” that most sub-ohm tanks suffer from. This makes the Voopoo DRAG 4 a great stealth sub-ohm kit and one of the best dual-battery vape kits in the world.
Score: 9/10
Vape mods with external batteries have a clear advantage; depleted and dead batteries can be swapped out, whereas internal power supplies are locked in.
While a power issue would usually require you to recharge or - worse - replace your vape mod, devices like the DRAG M100S allow you to pull the spent cell and replace it with a freshly charged backup!
The M100S Mod is remarkably compact for a device that can manage 100W outputs and powerful user modes like Temperature Control. It draws the power for these functions from your 21700 battery, though the mod also comes with a cell adaptor that makes your 18650 batteries compatible as well. I don’t know about you, but 18650s are all I have at home, so that was a good shout from Voopoo!
Single-battery sub-ohm can be hit or miss in my experience, yet the M100S pulls off the balance between output and capacity. You can even use user modes to preserve your battery life, such as Smart and Eco modes, ensuring you get a full day’s worth of vaping when you head out for the day.
The M100S has a rather slimline build. While this is technically a positive point, those of you who use tanks featuring bubble glass may want to exercise caution, as that glass is the first thing to hit the countertop if your setup gets knocked over.
As for the tank, the DRAG M100S also uses a Uforce-L, the same tank bundled with the DRAG 4.
Portable, powerful and packed full of puff potential, what’s not to love?
Final Score: 9/10
Voopoo proves that their current batch of vape kits that they are here to stay! They aren’t afraid to put out devices that suit any purpose, and they beautifully marry function and approachability with each of the devices they currently have on offer.
Some favourites stood out to me while reviewing these kits:
DRAG H40 - A stunning little kit with much more power and battery life than the build size suggests.
Argus P1 - Pintsize pocket puffer with deliciously flavoursome pods and necklace options for instant reachability.
DRAG 4 Kit - A titanic vaping behemoth with easily navigated functions and one of the best sub-ohm tanks ever.
Voopoo has been kind enough to provide us with several vape kits we requested for this review, which was conducted by Aiden, MIST’s staff writer and reviewer.
The MTL kits featured were filled with 20mg nicotine salts, whereas the DTL devices used 3mg 70VG vape juices. Using these e-liquids allowed Aiden to provide the most accurate assessment of how each vape will suit the average, everyday vaper.
